Publisher Description

The New York Times bestselling author of the Novels of the Elder Races returns with an enchanting and sizzling new tale about debts that cannot be repaid and hunger that cannot be satisfied…

For Beluviel, consort to the Elven High Lord, and Graydon, gryphon and First Sentinel of the Wyr, even the slightest desire for each other is forbidden. But two hundred years ago, after a desperate play to save Beluviel’s stepson left them indebted to the cruel Djinn Malphas, they found their fates inexorably linked together—and the hunger between them growing too strong to ignore…

Two centuries later, with their debt to Malphas coming due, Beluviel and Graydon realize that, if they are to stand any chance of saving their souls, they must once again work together—this time more closely than ever before. But every moment they spend with each other brings them nearer to losing something even more vital—their hearts…

3.5 stars

I am not sure if it’s the story, or if it’s just me, but once again I am losing interest in the story thread. I love when the series has anything to do with Pia, Dragos or Liam; but when it’s any other character, it’s just ok. It wasn’t like that in the beginning, and since Shadow’s End didn’t revolve around vampires, it was already a win in my book.

Graydon is one of the Gryphons, and we’ve had interactions with him through most of the stories, so it was nice that he finally gets a book of his own. He is one of the Characters that you can help but like; he is funny and charming. Honestly, all the Gryphons in this series are extremely likeable. I enjoyed the backstory with him and Bel, and how much they sacrificed. It showed how incredibly strong Graydon was to stay away from her for so long; two hundred years is an extremely long time to stay away from your potential mate!

I never really engaged with Bel; I liked her fine, but she never truly won my heart over the way Pia has, it may just be because I like Graydon too much.

Shadow’s End gets incredibly exciting at certain points where I clung to the pages; but at other times, it was a struggle to get through the book. I put it down twice, and read two other books. Again, I think it’s more because I’m losing interest with PNR as a whole. and moving on to other genera, at this point in my reading game. There is NOTHING wrong with the work. I love Thea Harrison. That said, I give Shadow’s End 3.5; it was really good and I enjoyed it. I’m sure that a year ago, when I was way into PNR, I would have deemed it a higher rating....Sara
