The great Scattering saw millions abandon the crumbling civilization and spread out beyond the reaches of known space. The planet Arrakis—now called Rakis—has reverted to its desert climate, and its great sandworms are dying.
Now the Lost Ones are returning home in pursuit of power. See AllBest book since the Original
We finally get some strong female characters in the series and it really helps balance the humanity in it. The story really begins to engage again after a couple of “transition” books.
Missing?
I love this book, but the iBook is missing all it's content. Problem?
A worthy sequel
This was a good book, I thoroughly enjoyed it. At first I was worried I wouldn’t be able to connect to any of the new characters since this takes places thousands of years after the original book, yet Frank Herbert pulls it off. While I’ll always have a soft spot for the original characters (the ones that were in movies, miniseries, remakes, and even video games) I grew to care for the new setting & characters as well. It can be a dense read sometimes, but if you get through that, you will enjoy this sequel.
