Quinn

Love? Not even on my radar. Homeless, hungry and in hiding with my little sister at the age of twenty-one, I’ve never been so desperate. I’ve hit rock bottom when I get an offer I can’t refuse. Sell my body to save my sister? There’s nothing I won’t do to keep her safe. I make the rules and I’m not afraid to defend myself if this rich guy crosses the line. But once I see beneath his cold, calculating façade, the lines aren’t so clear anymore.

Andrew

She’s an intoxicating mix of tough and vulnerable I’ve never known before. This homeless woman who fits right into my upper-class world is running from someone powerful, and I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her. But Quinn isn’t meant to be controlled, so I’m forced to choose between owning her and loving her. I’ve finally met my match, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make her truly mine.

Review

just finished the book. I thought the romance development was great, since the author took her time to allow the characters to fall in love that seems naturally and real. However, what I dislike is the fact that it would be nice for Rothert to develop some characters better. It felt that she focuses a lot on the romantic relationship between Andrew and Quinn yet she fails to give enough attention to supporting characters.
For example, it just seems unbelievable to me that Bean who started as a goodhearted ally to the girls somehow has a change of heart in Mexico for no reason at all. (The author said something about Bean using them as his meal tickets but that doesn’t explain the fact that he was with them when they had nothing, so his sudden affiliation to the cartels in Mexico seems to me like the author’s attempt to speed up the plot to deal with more important matter. But a good story wouldn’t just overlook the major flaw in the story.) I also dislike how Rothert characterizes the Senator stepdad and felt that the confrontation between Quinn and him was super anticlimatic. Also, the first time that Quinn met Andrew’s gay private assistance (i forgot his name), That guy seems to be decent guy and left a pretty good first impression on me but somehow he turns into a bad guy and i just don’t buy it.
Moreover, the whole point of the story was that Quinn runs away to protect her sister, Betsy; however, we don’t really know alot about Betsy and the infomation that we do get about Betsy is only to heighten Quinn majestic and kindhearted personality.
I just think that while this book is pretty good because I do like my protagonist kind, smart, and beautiful just like how the author described Quinn; However, I feel that there are more than enough material to expand on to create a sequel. Maybe call it HERS, and third book: US.

Good book, but.....

This was a good book, a quick read but way to short and rushed. This could have easily turned into a series with all of the story lines. A missed opportunity for Ms. Rothert, but a good story nonetheless.
