Wow, this book is an absolute gem that you NEED to READ! From the very first page, I was spellbound by these fantastically described charismatic characters that you will find yourself falling in love with. This book was full of emotional angst, scorching love scenes, and a compelling storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat to find out what happened next. When reading the story, it may make you feel sad, confused, appalled, and even euphoric. What moves me is just how Cynthia Dane was able to make the situations seem credible and realistic-their hurts, ambivalence, etc. Empowered is a sequel to the Monroe trilogy where Sarah Clayborn is the executive assistant for Damon Monroe-and I loved the Monroe trilogy. Sarah had an affair with Damon's father, Russell, and she thought he cared for her until she became pregnant with his child. You have to know Russell, he is cold hearted, manipulative, and a malicious bastard. Next thing you know, something is amiss because Sarah is no longer pregnant. Why? An atrocious accident happened to Sarah causing her to suffer the loss of her child. Because of Russell, Sarah would not let another man hurt her and destroy her
again. Sarah gains empowerment through her alter ego, Angel, where she is in complete control of her switch between her real self and Angel, the Slut! Then, Angel meets Lucas Blackbourne, a successful businessman, who is handsome and sexy, and she has a one-night stand with him. When Sarah finds out that Lucas is best friends with her boss and is working with him, will Lucas let Sarah know that he knows about her Angel persona or will he talk to Damon about her? The chemistry between Sarah/Angel and Lucas grows more potent the more time they spend together-the sex is off-the-chart hot! Will Sarah be able to trust Lucas and move forward with a relationship? What will happen to her Angel persona? The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next. The book will pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end.

Anything written by Cynthia Dane is sure to be excellent, intriguing, scintillating, thought-provoking and sexy. Maybe even a little dark. Empowered hits on all points. More than a romance, it's a woman's journey to take back control of her life, even if her method is a little unorthodox. A lot unorthodox. But hey, she may have met Mr Right at her monthly visit to the sex club dressed as her alter ego Angel. Sarah is a no-nonsense, perfectly organized (at least she will give this impression) administrative assistant to the billionaire Monroes whom we met in the Monroe Trilogy. But the father of her boss did her wrong, majorly wrong,so to 'get him back' symbolically or get all billionaires back symbolically or whatever she's decided in her mind, Sarah makes a trip to New York, to a sex club, disguises herself completely, makes a move on whomever she wants to for the night, controls the encounter, goes back home, back to work. Until she meets the Danish guy, has sex, and sees him Monday morning at work! Lucas Blackbourne, best friend of her boss Damon Monroe. Does he recognize her? Surely not....Read this incredible book that I could not put down and find out for yourself.
