James McGill Buchanan was an economics professor at George Mason University who died in 2013. He was  a Nobel Prize winner whose political ideas could very well be the primary cause behind the political divisiveness that the United States is going through. Buchanan proposed using stealth for right wing groups to sow doubt in people’s belief in the democratic institutions that serve them.
