Publisher Description
Two murders have rocked the city of Houston. Are they the work of a serial killer, or is a copycat trying to get away with murder?
That is the question facing Special Agent Bethany Sanchez, who is eager for her new assignment in violent crimes but anxious about meeting her new partner. Special Agent Thatcher Graves once arrested her brother, and he has a reputation for being a maverick. Plus, their investigative styles couldn’t be more opposite: he operates on instinct, while she goes by the book.
When hot leads soon fizzle out, their differences threaten to leave them deadlocked. But an attempt on their lives turns up the heat and brings them closer together, and a third victim might yield the clue that will help them zero in on a killer. This could be the case of their careers . . . if they can survive long enough to solve it.

A real psychological thriller!
This book was a much slower pace than Firewall but still good. I like the psychological aspects of the story. I could not wait to find out the identities of the killers were and the reasoning behind the murders. This story reminds us of what happens when we do not take responsibility for our actions. We would like to think that our actions only affect us but it has wide reaching consequences. We cannot ignore the problems in our families. The dynamics of dysfunctions that was displayed in these families is heartbreaking. So many lives destroyed because we do not realize who we really are in God.
One of the things that bugged me is the Agent Sanchez assumptions about the messages she was receiving. I wanted to remind her that she was a trained agent and that she should not make any assumptions.
FBI Agent Graves and Agent Sanchez provided the perfect balance in this partnership. Their differing way of looking at things was definitely needed in this case. This was a case with multiple suspects and layers of information that required off the book thinking.
Thank you Ms Mills for addressing the mental health issues, homelessness and the need for society to have a heart of Christ to help serve them. These people already feel isolated and ostracized from society and God’s word in action will help them to see their worth.
I received this book for free from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review. I also posted this review on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Goodreads, Deepershopper, etc.)”
