Publisher Description

Is Your Home Out of Order?

Do your kids expect clean folded clothes to magically appear in their drawers? Do they roll their eyes when you suggest they clean the bathroom? By racing in to make their lives easy, have you unintentionally reinforced your children’s belief that the world revolves around them?

Dismayed at the attitude of entitlement that had crept into her home, Kay Wyma got some attitude of her own. Cleaning House is her account of a year-long campaign to introduce her five kids to basic life skills and the ways meaningful work can increase earned self-confidence and concern for others.

With irresistible humor and refreshing insights, Kay candidly details the ups and downs of equipping her kids for such tasks as making beds, refinishing a deck chair, and working together. The changes that take place in her household will inspire you to launch your own campaign to dislodge your kids from the center of their universe.

“If you want your children to be more responsible, more self-assured, and more empathetic, Cleaning House is for you.”
—Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family

MomDDS ,

Inspiring!!!

Just what I needed! Wish I could get every mom to read it! This book beautifully put together so many thoughts that I had but didn't know how to start in our family of 5. I no longer feel alone in my journey of motherhood, this is truly the boost & inspiration I was looking for. This is not about a clean house (that is just a great bonus), it is about raising our children to be productive, creative members of society, with confidence & sense of pride for what they do. Along the way, we, moms, can rediscover ourselves (beyond carpool & soccer practice)& connect the family in a whole new way! Kay,Thank you for your creativity, courage & for sharing it in this book!

EVERY parent MUST read this book!!!

This is such an INSPIRING BOOK to read!! It's like the author has been living in MY house, like a fly of the wall, and also reading my thoughts!!! LOL! It feels great to know I am not the only Mom who has doted on and loved "the independence and productivity right OUT of my kids"!! Its time to LOVE the "independence and self-reliance BACK INTO" my kids by showing them "how-to" and then stepping back to let them learn hands on for themselves ( with GUIDANCE of course). I am implementing the author's "experiment
IMMEDIATELY !! THANK YOU for writing this book!!!!!
