Fangtastic start to a great series! You can’t help but to be in Val’s corner as she puts up with unreasonable family drama, battles internally to keep her literal demon under control all while doing what she can to keep the streets safe for citizens oblivious to the supernatural threat that they live with. You understand her sense of humor and how she dictates herself. She’s always been alone, even when surrounded by others. She’s had to constantly put up great mental fortitude and always be strong. Fang makes The Best Hellhound ever! (Everything is better with dogs 🐶) He’s quickly become one of my favorite characters. He and Val are the perfect team. He’s full of snark and wisecracks but full of love too and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to protect Val. (I love the mental image of him wearing his goggles being driven around on Val’s motorcycle 🥹🥰🐶). Dan, Val’s bipedal partner is a work in progress. I’m looking forward to seeing his character grow in the rest of the series. He has some personal demons of his own to deal with.
