Publisher Description

If only Lola Dunne had the time - and the courage - she'd write her novel, and maybe even start dating again. When her friend offers the use of her summer home overlooking Lake Haven, Lola sees the chance to focus on herself for a change, and she eagerly accepts.

Engineer Harry Westbrook is waiting for his ship to come in. But it's not happening soon enough for his girlfriend, who's left him for good...again. To nurse Harry's heartache, his pal extends an invite to his lake house in East Beach.

When it turns out that Harry's and Lola's friends are a divorcing, not-on-speaking-terms couple sparring over the same house, the strangers find themselves accidental (and reluctant) roommates for the summer. They agree to make the best of it, even posing as a couple to mingle among East Beach's well-heeled crowd. But the ruse is starting to feel real - and romantic. Are they brave enough to reveal their feelings before the summer nights turn cold?

When Harry Met Lola

What happens when you throw two unlikely strangers in a house, for the duration of the summer, in a small community? Lola Dunne is finally taking some time for herself to work on her book, when her friend Sara offers the use of her lake house. Harry Westbrook needs a place to stay to concentrate on salvaging his construction company. A surprise encounter with Zack, a former co-worker, lands Harry a place to stay. The hilarity the ensues when Lola and Harry learn that their friends, who are currently going through an ugly divorce unknowing lent them their lake house at the same time had me laughing out loud. After a rough start, Lola and Harry come up with a working arrangement and settle in as roommates. Roommates with benefits. As with all plans, things go awry. Their budding feelings get put on hold because Lola can't put herself first. Harry can't be with someone who doesn't want him. They must face their childhood demons before they can embrace each other.

This is the first Julia London book I've read and it will not be the last. It made me laugh and it made me cry. Suddenly Dating reads like The Odd Couple and No Strings Attached. I could relate to OCD Harry and Lola, who always put the need of everyone else before herself.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
