In her provocative essay collection, the comedian dishes out fire on everything from institutional racism to the scamminess of the beauty industry, backing up every point with hard data and her funny, terrible, and sometimes downright shocking personal experiences. (We’re looking at you, the guy who turned to her immediately post-coitus to recommend thigh-toning exercises.) Amazingly, Robinson makes every moment of this audiobook fun—not by sugarcoating the issues, but by comedy-coating them. Robinson’s hyperactive style and dark sense of humor set the tone, and her narration is incredibly funny and very natural. Everything’s Trash, But It’s Okay is an enlightening, entertaining listen.
