The Adults’ Game

If you want an audio version go buy the 20th Anniversary of Ender’s Game audiobook. It is recorded much like an audio play, the actors are better (a few are the same as this play) also it is not abridged like this version.

It gets three stars because it does add new narrative POV then the books Ender’s Game and Ender’s Shadow. Game is Ender’s POV, Shadow is Bean’s POV and Alive is mostly Graft’s POV. If you are a super fan and want something that will add new information then Alive is good. If you want to hear an audio play of Ender’s Game, go buy the audiobook.

This version has many more scenes following the thinking of the adults and has cut all but the most important scenes involving Ender. Orson Card did not include much if any narrative to make up for the scenes he cut. We don’t get to know the kids in the battle school, and the actors sound too old for the age they are suppose to be playing. We don’t get the same feelings as the original book. It is a lot more tell then show when to comes to Ender and the gang.

An very enjoyable listen

The cast is generally well pick with the only exception of ended mother although a very minor con. The pacing is on point, no child voice actor (need a suspension of disbelief for the age of the character). A good listen with immersive audio scape. I would recommend to all of my friends.

6 year old man voice

6 year old man. The adults sound good, but the kids and especially Ender sound like they're freaking year olds. The music is annoyingly placed too. The only reason to listen are the Graff scenes.
