About Stars Go Dim

Stars Go Dim formed in 2007 as a side project for three members of Pillar, a Christian rock band based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While recording Pillar’s fifth album, bassist Michael Wittig and drummer Lester Estelle II began working on music for a different project, eventually roping touring guitarist Joey Avalos and local vocalist Chris Cleveland into the lineup as well. Wittig, Estelle, and Avalos officially left Pillar the following year, and Stars Go Dim made their studio debut that October with the release of a self-titled EP. Basing themselves in Tulsa, they continued writing songs, eventually returning in 2009 with the full-length Love Gone Mad. Over the next several years, the initial lineup of the band faded out and Stars Go Dim became more of a solo vehicle for frontman Chris Cleveland. In 2011, he issued Between Here and Now before landing a deal with CCM label Fervent Records. At that point, Cleveland relaunched the band with their 2015 eponymous label debut. Aside from a 2016 Christmas single, "How Glorious the Love of Heaven," Stars Go Dim remained quiet for a few years, returning in 2018 with several singles including "Heaven on Earth," "Pieces," and "I Look to You," which featured Christian hip-hop duo Social Club Misfits; the singles appeared on 2019's Better. ~ Andrew Leahey
