About Silver Apples

The New York City-based duo the Silver Apples were one of the very first bands to make rock music almost entirely out of electronic instruments. Basing much of their sound around the repetitive lines generated by the Simeon, a homemade synthesizer constructed by the band member of the same name, the Apples' music was a pulsing blur of analog oscillations and straight rock drumming. The first incarnation of the band lasted only a few years in the late 1960s; however ,the band was resurrected in the mid 1990s and embraced by a crop of underground and indie bands hugely influenced by the Apples' primitive futurism. The Silver Apples Mark 2 also released a collaborative album with former Spacemen 3 member Sonic Boom.
