About Santigold

Santigold is an American songwriter, performer, and producer who has written for pop stars, led punk bands, and achieved hip-hop stardom. ∙ Before focusing on her own music, she did A&R work for Epic Records, rapped on two GZA albums, and produced soul singer Res’ hit debut album, 2001’s How I Do. ∙ In 2001, she started the Philly punk band Stiffed, which became an underground sensation before releasing their only album, 2005’s Burned Again. ∙ Led by the single “L.E.S. Artistes,” her Gold-certified 2008 debut LP spent 57 weeks on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, peaking at No. 2. ∙ Her songwriting credits for pop stars include Lily Allen’s single “Littlest Things,” Christina Aguilera’s “Monday Morning,” and Ashlee Simpson’s “Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya).” ∙ She directs several of her own videos, including the ambitious interactive version of her 2015 track "Can't Get Enough of Myself," which put fans' faces in the video while they watched. ∙ Jay-Z teamed up with her on his 2008 Kanye West-produced single “Brooklyn Go Hard,” which was used as the theme song for 2009’s Notorious B.I.G. biopic Notorious.
