About Jody Miller
Although she became famous for "Queen of the House," her response to Roger Miller's "King of the Road," Jody Miller pioneered a fusion of folk, country, and pop that set the stage for the folky country-pop of the 1970s. The song reached number five on the country chart and number 12 on the Hot 100 in 1965, marking her breakthrough. After pair of minor follow-up hits, she went into semi-retirement until returning with Look at Mine in 1971. It produced a string of Top Ten country hits, including "He's So Fine" and "Baby I'm Yours," and she returned to the Top Ten throughout 1972 and 1973. Over a decade later, 1987's My Country caught the attention of President-elect George H.W. Bush, who invited her to perform at his 1988 inaugural ball. Miller later briefly re-emerged as a gospel singer in the late '90s.
