About Haiku Hands

Combining arresting vocal melodies with kinetic beats and infectious bass lines, Haiku Hands are an Australian alt-pop performance trio who came together in 2017. Their unique and magnetic songs transcend multiple genres such as electro-pop, modern dance, and house, which can be heard on singles including 2017's "Not About You" and 2019's "Dare You Not to Dance." Made up of sisters and Sydney natives Claire and Mie Nakazawa along with Melbourne local Beatrice Lewis, the group came together after they met and bonded at numerous Australian festivals. They began working on music and coined the name Haiku Hands for their project, the former word being a phrase that represents their ideas, imagery, and overall lyrical themes, with "Hands" representing the collaborative nature of their own projects and individual tastes. They went on to work with other artists including hip-hop collective True Vibenation as well as producers Jaytee Hazard and Lewis Can Cut. Over the next three years, Haiku Hands released an array of singles including "Jupiter," "Manbitch," and "Onset," all of which later appeared on their eponymous 2020 debut album. ~ Rob Wacey
