Deborah Henson-Conant

About Deborah Henson-Conant

Born into a musical family, Deborah Henson-Conant began playing piano at the age of three before studying classical harp at the University of California. She supported herself playing gigs in the San Francisco Bay area and later did the same in New York City and Boston, where she formed her own Jazz Harp Trio. Signed by Larry Rosen to GRP Records, her earlier abilities as an improviser stood her in good stead when she turned her superb technique to hard bop. Among artists with whom she has worked is pianist Adam Makowicz, appearing on his 1986 MOONRAY. In the mid-90s she was featured artist and composer with the Boston Pops and premiered her "Christmas Suite, A Season Of Celebration," with the New England String Ensemble.
