About Breton Vivian

English-Australian composer Breton Vivian is best known for his work, together with Brian Tyler, on the record-breaking TV Western show Yellowstone and its two spin-offs, 1883 and 1923, which have earned him an Emmy nomination, multiple BMI Awards, and a Hollywood Music in Media Award. Based in Los Angeles, Vivian has lived all over the world, including Australia, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom, where he spent some years playing guitar in hardcore punk and metal bands. He later developed a love of classical and film music, and moved to L.A. after being accepted into USC's SMPTV (Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television) program. This global exposure provided his music with a refreshing sound, a unique musical language both intimate and cinematic. A protégé of Hollywood composer Brian Tyler, Vivian started out as his assistant before becoming a collaborator. After writing additional music for The Mummy, The Fate of the Furious, and Crazy Rich Asians, his first full credit as co-composer with Tyler came in 2018 when writer/director Taylor Sheridan tapped them to write the music for his TV Western show Yellowstone. The series went on to become a massive hit and spawned two prequel spin-offs, 1883 and 1923, for which Tyler and Vivian again wrote the music. They also co-scored the romantic drama films Five Feet Apart and Redeeming Love. ~ John D. Buchanan
