Pear Note 4+

When I first got this app a few op systems ago it worked fabulously. But I don’t think that they’ve kept it up to date with the newer op systems. It is extremely glitzy now. It bombs all the time, and frequently will just stop recording right in the middle of what you’re trying to record. Sometimes telling you that it has stopped and sometimes not. You discover later that it just simply didn’t record past a certain point. Sometimes the screen will just start flickering wildly. I’ve tried four different types of cameras and it just won’t reliably work with anything. It’s a fantastic concept app but it just doesn’t deliver. Don’t trust it for anything that you need to have recorded.

I have used this app for a week now and have been super impressed. Everything works very well and the interface is very intuitive. The play back allows you to see what was said during a particular slide or what you wrote or and combination. I am using an 11inch Macbook air and can hear the teacher with the built in mic. There are a few feature that i would really like to see with this software. The first would be an intigrated file system. Right now all you can do is save all of your notes to 1 predetermined folder. It would be cool to be able to set up classes with a menu interface and select the class when opening the program. It would also be nice if the recording software was able to eliminate(or dampen) key clicks as that is the only drawback of using the internal mic(the instructor is still audible with key/mouse clicking. I hope i can keep up the habit of using this as it is by far the most orgainized way taking notes i have ever ran across.

I'm a college student and use this app in EVERY lecture!! With this app I am able to record, type notes, review after lecture and take even more in depth notes on topics I didn't quite get during class. During playback mode I can slow down the audio for easier note taking or speeden up audio to skip through lecture. The best thing about this app is during playback mode I can click on a word in the notes I typed and the audio will go to that point in lecture when I typed that word or phrase. The only downside is the noise sensitivity while recording, but that could be my mac and not the actual app itself.

When I first heard about the app the price bothered me, seeing that it is $40! But if you think about it…new recorders tend to be around $30 anyway. So the convenience of having it on your computer makes up for it! I truly reocmmend this app!
