Miku Baby Monitor 4+

Parents Beware! I wish I knew how frustrating this thing is

If it weren’t for the breathing monitoring we would have dumped this hot garbage a long time ago. First off, you have to purchase a non-apple tablet just to even be able to watch it, because who in their right mind would use their smartphone to constantly watch their child? You can’t do anything else on your phone so this basically turns your smartphone into a $1000 baby monitor. Finally after months we have the settings in a “sweet spot” but we went through COUNTLESS cycles of uninstalling the app, re-pairing, etc. because nothing else would work. The screen would just be stuck on “Connecting securely to Miku” but would never connect. Sometimes I would try a different wifi connection. Sometimes I would rotate the screen 13 times and it would finally connect. Sometimes I would turn the wifi on and off… there is no rhyme or reason why and how this thing actually “securely connects”. We ended up buying a backup cheap monitor to have because many times we would wake up in the middle of the night to find it stuck again on “Connecting securely to Miku”. I feel bad that we bought this for our friends for their baby shower and have to go through this insufferable process. Oh and the developers rarely update the app, and when they do things usually get worse. Please do me a favor for peace of mind and just look elsewhere. I really wanted to love this but it has caused us so much frustration and inconvenience.

Great notifications

It took me a while to figure out this app, but once I did I love it. Once you open the app once, the audio from the monitor will stay playing through your phone speakers even when other apps are open or your phone is locked, and the app will notify you when your baby wakes up and falls asleep - I set the sensitivity a little lower on this part so that id know when my newborn woke up sooner and it’s been great when I want to do some chores around the house and not get sucked into staring at the monitor every time he makes a little noise! There’s also a really loud alarm that will sound when there is zero movement detected, which gives major peace of mind about things like SIDS while you’re sleeping - the alarm has gone off on accident when I picked my baby up without quitting the app and it is definitely loud enough to wake you up or get your attention if you’re busy!

The analytics are fun to keep track of and I love that the app will tell me how long total my baby has been asleep for during a nap so I can keep track when I’m trying to wake him up to keep him on a feeding schedule during the day!

The ONLY suggestion I have would be to keep your phone connected to some kind of louder speaker when you’re sleeping if you want baby noises to wake you up, because other monitors I’ve used have been louder than this one when the phone is locked. Otherwise, this is 100% perfect!

Great product and app!

I spent hours researching and reading reviews to find the right monitor for us. SO glad I landed on this one! What an amazing product! From the moment it came I was impressed. First, it arrived quickly and beautifully packaged. It even came with a screwdriver, ruler, level, and more for an easy install. I am a first-time mom and had no idea what to expect and it blew me away. The app made the set-up super easy through clear and easy to follow prompts. I actually had a small problem with it finding my WiFi, but customer service was amazing. I asked what the issue could be and within minutes I had my answer. I just needed to shut down the Miku and start over. It worked like a charm. The picture quality is amazing and the alerts and information it gives you is incredible. I don’t need to have the app up on my phone and running my battery the whole time, the alerts let me know if there is a change – which is really nice. Another nice feature is the sound machine! I can change the type of sound, the volume, and turn it on or off from my phone. It also doesn’t drown out any baby noise. Lastly, I love that my husband can peek in from work at naptime and if one of us is out of town, it is nice to see babe from afar. From the design to the functionality, I am more pleased than I could have ever expected. I definitely recommend the Miku to anyone looking for a monitor and peace of mind.
