It’s one thing to get the right answer on a complicated math or science problem. It’s another to pore over the problem and learn about the “why?'” behind every step. Brilliant helps you do just that by giving you the space to stay sharp and dig into a range of topics (like classical mechanics or machine learning). Plus, you can always take things one step further by engaging with a community of likeminded folks who are just as eager to take on a challenge as they are discussing one.

Great engaging content, some ui annoyances

Like the content. But sometimes it doesn’t feel like it’s made for an iPhone and the buttons for checking or submitting answers and/or the question are spaced weird and outside of what I can see so I’m missing context or can’t access the button smoothly. Another placement thing I don’t like and find annoying is the repeat lesson buttons and I hit those by accident and am sent back to the start. Then it looks like I never did the lesson even if I completed it. None of these are deal breakers. I mean I’m paying for the app after all. But it’s a bit annoying at times and seem like small changes that could be remedied more easily than full on content development. I have premium and after each block of lessons in probably for data analysis it keeps asking me if I want to try premium for free.

Ok next request? Is space to write stuff down and figure out problems in the app. They have gridded logic problems and I guess they want us to draw this out on paper on our own? I realize this sounds nit picky but they go hard for visualizing things (and they sometimes don’t always add a lot of value) but then don’t have what seems like functional things like a place to solve the problems or draw things out on our own in app.

Math courses are excellent for visual learners, but logic needs work

I have a lifelong learning disability with math, but I've always wanted to understand it. I'm a visual learner, and I can't stand the pretentious lingo taught in school. Overall, Brilliant is perfect for my learning style. It does a great job helping me visualize mathematical concepts and make them more relatable in daily life. That said, the logic course needs work. It presupposes that you already have an intuitive understanding, which I don't, due to my learning disability. I think in pictures, not logically, and some of the answers to the questions are downright baffling. In some questions, they say they have provided all the information needed to make a logical conclusion, when in fact we have no proof whatsoever and can only speculate. They expect a correct answer to an impossible question. I can't recommend this course to anyone unfamiliar with logical reasoning, because you're on your own with no help, unlike the math courses. The math courses are much better overall. Unlike Khan Academy, they don't simply tell you you're wrong with no explanation. They point out exactly where you erred, or what you should notice, so you truly understand what you're learning. That doesn't make it easy, but it's very much worthwhile. I hope the developers will take this approach with the logic courses in the future.
