Tomorrow's World

Tomorrow's World

With producer Frankmusik, who’s worked with Lady GaGa, handling the sound, the synth-pop duo Erasure goes deeper into electronics with a true sense of purpose. As a senior member of an electronic movement that didn’t exist before Vince Clarke’s days in Depeche Mode and Yaz, Erasure has a true challenge in keeping up with the scene it helped foment. Here Erasure performs admirably, grooving along with the fist-pumping grind of “I Lose Myself” like a good sport and sticking to its melodic instincts. “A Whole Lotta Love Run Riot” is a fierce stomp that glimmers and pounds with the excitement of the club floor. “What Will I Say When You’re Gone?” is a glimpse at the duo’s somber side and reminiscent of all that was glorious about its early days. “When I Start To (Break It All Down)” features singer Andy Bell at his most powerful. “Shot to the Heart” is a true exciter, reeling from active synth lines and a propulsive groove that moves things to another level.
