East Coast and West Coast sensibilities collide on this collaboration between rapper Crooked I, a.k.a. KXNG Crooked, and producer Statik Selektah. “If I told you my life story, man, your stomach would vomit,” says the former over a G-funk arrangement on “Everybody Knows.” Crooked then details how far he has come over Statik’s smoothed-out, jazzy keyboards on “Dead or in Jail,” while a sunshine-pop loop powers “Good Gone Bad.” It’s the brittle drum samples and tough-minded lyrics, though, that really mark this excursion in real hip-hop.
