Playing with Fire

Playing with Fire

Former Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles brings sass and brass to her second album. Her hearty Southern pipes and theatrical flair give Playing With Fire a solid shot of musical depth and lyrical color. Nettles can rock a barroom with the title track, where she struts lines like, "I wanna walk down every street/In a dress I shouldn’t wear.” Then she'll switch it up with plaintive sensitivity on the ballad “Unlove You.” But the winners are her more soulful country-pop tunes like “My House,” where she trades lines and harmonizes with J.Lo.
