Thick, meaty, and satisfying, the 27th (!) album from heroic rock weirdos Melvins features two bass players on every track. Steven McDonald of Redd Kross and Jeff Pinkus of the Butthole Surfers tag team the thundering-yet-hilarious James Gang/Surfers mash-up “Stop Moving to Florida,” the rubbery honky-tonk of “Break Bread,” and a blaring, woozy cover of The Beatles’ “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” Then Pinkus leads the band through the warped 12-string shuffle “Prenup Butter” and a cockeyed cover of the Surfers’ “Graveyard.”
