Mozart: Piano Concertos Nos. 15, 21 & 23

Mozart: Piano Concertos Nos. 15, 21 & 23

Mozart was frequently featured as soloist and conductor as well as composer, and his love of all three roles is clearly reflected in these joyful concertos. No. 21 became universally known as Elvira Madigan after its sublimely serene Andante was featured prominently in the film of that name. That other great Mozart movie, Milos Forman's Amadeus, featured the exhilarating Academy of St Martin in the Fields for all the orchestral music. That redoubtable ensemble here supports the eminent Austrian Pianist Alfred Brendel, revered for his clearheaded performances of Mozart, highlighting the glorious architecture without stinting on the poetry.
