Music 4 Tngrs

One of the stranger stories in the music biz, the group Chester French first formed at Harvard University in 2003. It was originally a five-man pop group that called its style "gentlemen rock." The band released the EP (First Love), which it performed tracks from on the street in Boston. Soon enough, Chester French trimmed down to just two guys—D.A. Wallach and Maxwell Drummey—and polished up its production skills and multi-genre influences. The fast-rising duo was soon courted by both Kanye West and Pharrell Williams, whose Star Trak label won the bidding war. Chester French's first album, Love the Future, was released in 2009 and earned the duo lot of press, TV appearances, and tour slots with groups like Fall Out Boy and Blink 182. On Music 4 Tngrs, Chester French serves up another batch of ultra-catchy modern pop anthems, full of sing-along choruses and diverse instrumentation. Pusha T and Pharrell lend a hand on "Next Big Thing," and Travis Parker contributes to two tracks. But for the most part it's all Chester French, making exactly what the title suggests. Check out "Female Version" and the single "Black Girls."
