Live In Gdańsk (Deluxe Version)

Live In Gdańsk (Deluxe Version)

The final concert of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour’s 2006 tour – and sadly, the last tour for the late Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright – was recorded at the Polish shipyards where Lech Walesa led the Solidarity movement against the Soviet regime in 1980. It features an entire live representation of Gilmour’s solo album, On An Island, and a smattering of Pink Floyd classics from “Astronomy Domine” to “Comfortably Numb.” With Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera keeping pace and challenging Gilmour, the performances contain a fiery element lost in the studio’s ethereal, measured perfectionism. The Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra maintains the original recordings’ grandeur, and while “Red Sky at Night” and “This Heaven” are likable excursions into Gilmour’s immense guitar talents, there’s no denying that fans will be most rewarded by Gilmour’s efforts during the Dark Side of the Moon openers “Time” and “Breathe” and the later excursions into the epic “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” “Echoes,” “Wish You Were Here” and, of course, his signature song and guitar solo, “Comfortably Numb.”
