50 At Fifty

50 At Fifty

This 50-track career retrospective celebrates the 50 years since The Hollies’ 1963 debut. Like many of their British peers, they’d started off playing polite covers of American R&B tunes. However, once they discovered the power of three-part harmonies, songs such as “Look Through Any Window,” “Bus Stop," and “Carrie Anne” established their chart presence and their reputation. They maneuvered their way through the stylistic changes of the ‘60s. In 1972, they hit with the Creedence Clearwater Revival–sounding “Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress”) and in 1974 with “The Air That I Breathe.” Rare live performances and the studio track “Skylarks” are exclusive to this comprehensive collection.
