One of the hardest-working rapper/producers in the game today, Oddisee got his start in the late '90s and got an early credit on DJ Jazzy Jeff's underrated 2002 album The Magnificent. He was also part of the group Low Budget Crew (with Kev Brown, Cy Young, and Ken Starr) and another group called Diamond District (alongside Uptown XO and yU the 78er). Since the mid-'00s, he's released a steady stream of high-quality material for labels like Halftooth and Mello Music Group, including solo joints, instrumental projects, and assorted EPs. Rejecting played-out murder/hustle/party themes, Oddisee makes music that's far more personal and heavy on the autobiographical wordplay about life on the road, love for his D.C. hometown, and the ups and down of the industry—all set to strong beats loaded with obscure samples and old-fashioned breakbeats. "Interlude Flow," "Own Appeal," "Unfollow You," and "Tomorrow Today" are especially nice.
