Devin sings with a rasp and a howl that merges New York glam with British punk, applying it to a sound that interjects the feel of Phil Spector's classic work with the brattiness of The Libertines and The Strokes. By keeping a tight rein on the material, Devin ensures that the tracks pack a punch. At its base, "New Horrors" may be the sound of old rock 'n' roll getting a new coat of paint, but it shimmers with a sense of fun often missing from those who copy the shadows. "I Don't Think I" jams with the verve of 1977-style new wave. The acoustic "White Leather" could be a lost Johnny Thunders number.
