Urge to Kill

Urge to Kill

Brainbombs are a Swedish gore-punk/noise rock band with unapologetically offensive lyrics sung in an inescapably clear Germanic accent. While their intentions are ultimately comical, the subject matter and unfortunately (for some) intelligible vocals make Brainbombs one of the more controversial bands in extreme music. Musically, the band specializes in demandingly repetitive, punk-simple riffs and highly effective lo-fi recording practices. Urge to Kill, the band's fourth full-length, was released by Load Records in 1999 and features all the Stooges-like guitar riffs played at half speed (and therefore more disturbing) and the lyrics that have made the band notorious in underground circles. For better or for worse, the tremolo-ed crush of "Slayer," steamrolling, reprehensible "Maybe" and the hypnotic careen of "Driving Through Leeds" are among Brainbombs' best songs.
