After 15 years of steady accumulating success, Three 6 Mafia broke into the mainstream in 2005 on the strength of their biggest hit to date, “Stay Fly.” Bolstered by a sample of Willie Hutch’s 1975 song “Why Has Our Love Gone Cold,” “Stay Fly” is a rap anthem of the highest order, the kind of song that can lift the listener off his feet when played at the proper volume.
