Broken Kids Club

Broken Kids Club

You might know Craig Xen from the late cult antihero XXXTENTACION’s Members Only crew—or from his arguably cooler rumored claim to rap lore as DJ Screw’s nephew. Both affiliations come through on his short, somber Broken Kids Club EP, on which the Houston rapper’s delivery ranges from mosh-pit-ready punk raps to slow, woozy melodies. Xen wears his voice ragged on the bruised, blown-out “Run It Back!” but for most of the EP, he’s straight-up heartbroken. On “Cry Baby, Cell 17,” he’s trying and failing to cope with the loss of his friends, singing over grungy acoustic guitar, “Didn’t know that I’d have to die to see 'em again.”
