Love To Love You Baby

Love To Love You Baby

While not her actual debut album (she'd released Lady of the Night a year earlier in Europe), Love to Love You Baby introduced Donna Summer to the world and launched a hugely successful career that would stretch more than three decades. Produced by electro studio wizard extraordinaire Giorgio Moroder, the title track was a tremendous global hit and a mainstay in disco clubs worldwide. With its epic length (nearly 17 minutes), seductive moaning and cooing, addictive bass line, and otherworldly falsetto, it remains a landmark, genre-defining anthem routinely covered, sampled, and reworked by countless artists. The other five songs are also great (especially "Need a Man Blues" and "Pandora's Box"), but it's the title track that really resonates so many years later. Donna Summer was rightly crowned The Queen of Disco. She passed away in 2012, but her musical legacy should live forever.
