Witch Mountain

Witch Mountain

The fifth album from Witch Mountain features the proper debut of singer Kayla Dixon, who brings a heightened sense of soul and purpose to the Portland, Oregon, doom dealers. On lurching opener “Midnight,” Dixon goes from bluesy croon to banshee wail to demonic shriek in under a minute, displaying the kind of range rarely seen in the genre. The thudding riff on “Mechanical World” boasts shades of Led Zeppelin, while Dixon glides and soars above swampy grooves on slow-burning closer “Nighthawk.”
