Officially anointed by Dillinger Escape Plan’s Ben Weinman as the heirs to DEP’s exalted math-metal throne, Swedish hardcore hybridists God Mother deliver a wildly kinetic second album. Songs like “Acrid Teeth,” “Anti Anthem,” and “10.000 År” offer glimpses of Converge-esque chaos, grating grind, and DEP’s own knack for bending anarchic guitar wizardry into strident metallic furor. Elsewhere, “Caved In,” “Charlatan,” and “Carve Them” revel in D-beat bedlam and death-march dissonance, while the five-minute closer, “Burdenless,” provides a boiling, churning denouement.
