Vaya Futuro continue to warp their heartfelt indie rock with the eerie beauty and ecstatic hooks of vintage psychedelic pop. Tips para Ir de Viaje still features its share of fist-pumping riffs and fierce grooves ("Sol en la Frente"), along with moments of pure, feedback-scorched wildness ("Mr. Mapooch"). But many of the album's most incandescent moments find the Mexican band now trading gleeful noise for gorgeous balladry, even if that means the otherworldly drift of the reverb-soaked "Despacio" or the disorienting tapestries of synths and vocals found on "Abismo."
