There isn’t any genre large enough to encircle the vast, horrid wasteland that is Through the Mirror. With startling deftness, ENDON can shift from clanging, industrial power (“Nerve Rain”) to a symphonic collision of blackened blurs, growls, and pained screams inspired by early Japanese noise (“Your Ghost Is Dead”). On top of all this, they consistently splatter ears with chunks of grindcore, post-metal, and noise-rocking dirges, like the 10-minute “Perversion ’Till Death,” with its chaotic free-jazz rhythms.
