Time Enough at Last

Time Enough at Last

Despite releasing more than two dozen studio albums, The Fall also has numerous live albums, EPs, and outtake collections that keep its fans constantly searching for both the music and the information behind it. "E.S.P. Disco" is an odd 1979 remix of "Psychic Dancehall," but most of the first dozen-plus tunes here come from 1992-1996, the years of Code: Selfish and The Light User Syndrome. The remainder of tracks may or may not be what they seem, as the band and its repackagers often play fast and loose with the facts. "Oxymoron" is a bright opener, while "The Birmingham School of Business School" crafts a thudding psychedelia. "U.S. 80's-90's" is driven by merciless feedback and synthesizers that blow like the wind. "L.A." and "Feeling Numb" are played at quickened paces. "Mr. Pharmacist" is presented in a skeletal mix. "The Mixer" has a full grind that proves the group's simple, repetitive grooves can yield limitless rewards.
