BooPac

BooPac

Likening yourself to hip-hop’s very first icon is a risky proposition, but it’s one Boosie Badazz doesn’t take lightly. BooPac gets its title from Boosie’s view that he is his generation’s 2Pac, and he’s made an extremely dynamic double album in a bid to fill those very large shoes. Topically, BooPac includes a heartfelt ode to his mother (“Me & Mama”), a detailing of the effect of drugs on his family (“Cocaine Fever”), and a beautiful letter to his old partner-in-rhyme Webbie, recounting their earliest days together. The album is full of allusions to 2Pac’s work, but more importantly, it details Boosie’s own very compelling life story, reinforcing that the road to becoming an icon begins and ends with keeping it real.
