Eric Paslay

Eric Paslay

Though this collection of bright, guitar-driven country is the first album to bear Eric Paslay’s name, the Texas-born, Nashville-based singer/songwriter has already written or cowritten huge hits for Jake Owen (“Barefoot Blue Jean Night”), Eli Young Band (“Even If It Breaks Your Heart”), and Love and Theft (“Angel Eyes”). With standout tracks like “Here Comes Love” and “Friday Night,” Paslay’s self-titled debut is loaded with big hooks and brisk tempos. Behind rolling Telecaster riffs and reeling banjos are clear vocals and heartfelt turns of phrase. Paslay’s strength lies in uptempo, radio-friendly sing-alongs, though he also shines with the epic power ballad “Less Than Whole” and the chiming, mandolin-driven charmer “Country Side of Heaven.”
