Said to have been friends since kindergarten, the members of Incan Abraham play with grand confidence; they're not afraid to tackle a huge, orchestrated sound far beyond their quartet status. Credit keyboardist Giuliano Pizzulo for providing much of the depth with synth washes and producer Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, FIDLAR) for finding a way to reconcile all the instruments in the mix. Their native city, Los Angeles, influences the sunny patches of orchestral wonder that can be heard supporting songs such as “Midwife,” “All You Want," and “Peers.” A great pop song lurks in the album’s midsection. “Tuolumne” breaks the AOR haze for a sultry beat and a surefire hook that’s far more immediate than the subtle album slow burns “Concorde” and “Forgiveness.” Teddy Cafaro’s impressive vocal range turns “Forgiveness” and “Spring House” into soulful modern rock worthy of Coldplay. Cafaro takes center stage on the relatively stripped-down “Tolerance.”
