On their first album in a decade, these politically minded sons of Orange County add a pronounced metal sheen while forfeiting none of the power that brought them to hardcore’s forefront in the ’90s and early ’00s. Zoli Téglás delivers his sermons in air-punching old-school punk fashion, neither whining nor retching. Broadsides like the hard-rock-riffed “How Is This Progress?,” disillusioned “The Suffering” and pit-ready “You Lie” are as melodic as any metalcore, yet more mature. Like Dropkick Murphys, Ignite have scars to share and tales to tell.
