Nick decides to stay in town to find out if Sam is his son. He pursues a job at the college and must convince the reluctant dean that he is capable of being a good teacher.

Sam asks Nick to help him get a girl he likes using a technique from his book, leading to disastrous results. Eddie goes on a secret date with Janet.

Nick discovers that his father is involved with Dean Etwood, while his relationship with Aubrey deepens. Eddie decides to go public with his relationship with Janet, but ultimately cannot go through with it.

Hannah, Nick and thew gang sit and wait at the hospital to find out Sam's fate. Physical Phil and Pizza Girl reach a bump in the road. Eddie must face Janet after standing her up.

Nick chooses between Hannah and Aubrey. Physical Phil confronts his fears to win back Pizza Girl. Ray informs Owen about Ikey and Allison.

Nick and Eddie head to New York in an attempt to bring Owen back to his estranged wife and family in Knightsridge, and Hannah comes to terms with her true feelings for Nick.

Upon Nick's return, Hannah shares her feelings with him. Meanwhile, Eddie wrestles with expressing his feelings publicly for Janet, Nick is threatened by another professor's interest in Aubrey.

In an attempt to get over his pain and move on, Owen employs Nick to learn the details of his wife's affair with his best friend, Ikey. Meanwhile, Eddie harbors a secret that could kill a business venture he plans with Nick.

As Hannah looks forward to a house full of guests for Christmas, Nick learns the truth about his mother's death. Janet gives Eddie an unusual gift. Pizza Girl learns that Phil has been lying to his parents about his life.

Hannah questions her life choices when Ray's ex-wife brings out her insecurities. While trying to hook-up Ronnie, Nick realizes he has feelings for Aubrey while Ronnie makes a realization of his own.

An amateur comic book Nick wrote back in high school ridiculing a fellow classmate comes back to haunt him in the present when Nick and Eddie are bidding on a lucrative new project and the man hiring is the "Cupcake Kid".
