Rock 'n' Roll (Deluxe Edition)

Rock 'n' Roll (Deluxe Edition)

1987’s Rock ‘n’ Roll put Motörhead leader, bassist Lemmy Kilmister, back together with drummer “Philthy Animal” Taylor and allowed Motörhead to get right to the point of making uncompromising music worthy of its album title. As was Lemmy’s intent, the band threw off a solid set of originals that never slow for anyone. The title track, “Eat the Rich” (also a movie that featured Lemmy as “Spider”) and “Blackheart” kick off the album in solid, no-nonsense fashion. “Stone Deaf In the USA” features a few twisted guitar solos. “The Wolf” adds a few howls at the moon before treading into a murky swamp where the guitar riffs sound like a power-saw taking out a large tree. “Traitor” is fleshed out with more speed-of-light solos. “Dogs” is the tough grunting lower-gear tune. The Deluxe Edition includes the two 12” b-sides to “Eat the Rich”: “Cradle to the Grave” and “Just ‘Cos You Got the Power.” Also, as with many of the Motörhead Deluxe Editions, a live concert is included. This one is from the Monsters of Rock Festival in Castle Donington, UK, on August 16, 1986.
