Silver Mountain

About Silver Mountain

Silver Mountain was a Swedish metal quartet that helped establish characteristics that would eventually come to be known as power metal and neo-classical metal. Named for the famous Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow song “Man on the Silver Mountain,” the band integrated Deep Purple-esque, keyboard-laden rock and classical compositions into the burgeoning NWOBHM scene. Silver Mountain also featured two members (brothers Anders and Jens Johansson) who would later achieve worldwide success with Yngwie Malmsteen. Silver Mountain released three studio albums, which were so well received in Japan that the band recorded one live album there (HIBIYA-LIVE IN JAPAN ‘85). The band broke up in 1988 to pursue other musical interests but reunited in 2001 to release one final studio album.
