Description

*** IMPORTANT: Make sure your devices are compatible with Bluetooth LE before purchasing. You can find the list of compatible devices below. ***

Scribe lets you copy anything from your Mac to your mobile device, without Wi-Fi.

Select text, links, numbers or small images, and simply press “COMMAND + SHIFT + X” to instantly transfer your selection from your Mac to your iOS Device.

See your sent history, copy, enter URL links, call or add contact numbers, and share items in a great interface.

NEW UPDATE: Scribe now routes your snippet directly into other apps! You can now send an address directly into the Maps app, send copied text directly into Whatsapp as a new message or Twitter as a new tweet! Pressing “CMD + SHIFT + X” now gives you a menu where you can select the iOS app you want to send your copied item to. Just swipe the notification you receive, and let Scribe do the rest.

Scribe uses Bluetooth Low Energy™; a new technology that constantly keeps your devices paired and provides a secure connection without eating up your battery life. You can literally use it all day and not feel the sting on your iPhone’s battery.

Since it doesn't rely on Wi-Fi, Scribe doesn't require a network connection to work. All you need are the devices you are already using.

Scribe works on all Macs and iOS devices that support Bluetooth 4.0. Here’s a list of all compatible Mac and iOS models:

Macbook Air - 2011 or newer
Macbook Pro - 2012 or newer
iMac - Late 2012 or newer
Mac Mini - 2011 or newer
Mac Pro - Late 2013 or newer

iPhone - 4S or newer
iPad - 3rd generration or newer
iPad Mini - All generations
iPod Touch - 5th generation or newer

Hint: You can check your Mac’s model by clicking on the Apple Icon > About this Mac > More Info

Good, would be better with persistent connection

This app has a great concept. I was really missing Pastebot, and sad that Tapbots has not updated it in ages. Scribe looked like it could fill that role, at least for the Mac to iPhone transfer. Sadly, the connection is quite finnicky and it often is lost, and it’s a pain to reconnect. Overall though, three stars for a sound idea with beautiful design. Hope they continue to improve it, as the potential is certainly there. I like the new send to app menu.

Don’t listen to ignorant pessimists

This app worked perfectly for me.
I got the iPhone app for free, and opened it.

I downloaded this Mac app, and as soon as I opened the Mac app, it saw my iPhone, and linked in a few seconds.
Don’t listen to the other ignorant reviewers, because the problems they are having has to do with them having incompatible hardware. You have to have a Mac with Bluetooth LE (all newer Macs have this).

It’s been working perfectly ever since and reliably syncs instantly with my phone.

To be clear though, I will not be using Scribe not because it doesn’t work (it works very well) but because it lacks a big feature: two-way sending.
I can send stuff from Mac to iPhone, but I usually never have a need to do that. Most of the time, I find stuff on my phone that I want to later work with on my Mac, and this app does not allow sending from phone to Mac. Until the developer adds this feature, this app is not that useful, at least to me.

It works perfectly…and it’s SOOO PRETTY :D

Whoever did the art design for everything about this app, from the colors chosen in the help menu to the logo to the dynamic movement of the text on the help website…it’s gorgeous :D I realize this is the kinda thing most people overlook, but I appreciate it :]
As for the functionality, it’s perfect for what I need. Beats using email to communicate simple text from my comp to my phone :D
(Shouldn’t be writing this review, should be studying…)
