Priceless for my X Air mixer

You may-or-may-not know this, but the Behringer X Air digital mixers are awesome hardware, however the official “X Air Edit” app is anything but.

This Mixing Station app is and unbelievably good companion and solves so many dilemmas I was having. What I love more than anything is the ability to create my own custom layouts. It’s enabled me to design a very simple layout for my iPhone in vertical orientation for quick on-the-go adjustments, as well as a much more detailed layout for my iPad in horizontal orientation. On both layouts I’ve chiseled away all the elements that never apply to my system, and honed in on making the tools I do use extremely accessible and visible. I’ve literally shaped the UI to my exact brain logic. Plus I’ve made multiple layouts, for home studio use and live productions, each with the exacting controls I need. Why couldn’t all hardware be this flexible!?!

Kudos to Behringer for creating such open and well documented hardware interface, and double kudos to the Mixing Station developer for realizing the full potential and releasing it to the masses. The in-app purchase price for this is a silly good bargain, just go for it if you have any of the supported hardware.

Incredible app that easily controls everything in the X-33

After the official app for the x-33 failed to connect, I tried this app and it works flawlessly. After entering the ip address of the mixer, it connects immediately and all the features of the x-33 are available remotely. We like the layout better than the official app because the controls are bigger and easier to manage especially if you have larger fingers. The layout of the controls are very intuitive and after flipping through all the buttons and tabs it is quickly clear that all the features are there and easily controlled. All the level meters work giving essential feedback for proper mixing. It even has its own added features. The cost is very reasonable for the full-featured app that it is. The only negative is its power consumption using around 35% in two hours on an iPad — not a big issue when this is the only app that works, and if the official app did work, we would still choose this one. Thank you developers for all your hard work in bringing this well-developed and thought-through app to us.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your detailed review! Yes power consumption is a bit higher due the app always being connected to the mixer. But I’ll try to improve that in the future.

From a gigging vocalist/sound guy!

As a working musician, I need my gear to perform every time. This app is fantastic for me as when we do smaller gigs, I prefer not to hire someone to do sound for the band. Larger shows we use this app with our X-32 console and a sound man but I’m still able to make small personal adjustments on the stage to my in ears. At smaller shows, we use the X-Air 18 and run the sound ourselves. Being able to control everything from my iPhone is really the best of both worlds. I do NOT understand all the whining on here about price and in app purchases. The bottom line is, as a professional musician, we spend literally THOUSANDS of dollars on guitars, tune amps, stomp boxes, wireless mics and pa gear. The idea that $10 to have an app that CONTROLS YOUR ENTIRE LIVE SOUND is somehow not only too expensive but offensive is laughable!! If you spent $5000 on your pa but are too cheap to spend $10 on the app that makes it easier for you to use and allows you to access all its features then you really need to re-examine your priorities! Thanks for all your hard work in this app and please continue to create!!!
