Os Mutantes, stars of Brazil's late-'60s Tropicalia movement of pop-rock and art, found a second life as hipster favorites in '90s America. Compiled and released by David Byrne's Luaka Bop label, Everything is Possible! makes a fabulous case for the group's importance and sheer fun factor. (It also draws its highlights from several hard-to-find albums.) Over 14 tracks, the set ranges from psychedelia to frenetic booty-shaking Latin rock that would make Carlos Santana green with envy. There are also two versions of Caetano Veloso's anthem "Baby" - one a tender folk-samba stroll, the other an organ-drenched blues-rock freakout. A major influence on the likes of Beck, Os Mutantes are certain to light up the brain of anyone who spends an hour with them.
